Skipping SPF speeds up skin ageing
UV breaks down collagen and elastin every single day — that daily damage is what shows up later as deep wrinkles, sagging and dark sun spots. Hong Kong's UV index is high year-round, cloud or not.

Where Skin HQ has been featured, what Justine is telling clients this season, and the articles and studies behind the treatments — with a short Skin HQ take on each.
The Loop HKThe Loop HK features Justine's boutique clinic for combining clinical insight with a personalised, holistic approach — considering hormones, diet, stress and lifestyle before recommending any treatment. Her Signature Glow-Up Facial (dermaplaning, enzyme exfoliation, a fruit-enzyme peel, LED phototherapy and a hydrating infusion) is singled out as a client favourite.
Sassy Hong KongJustine walks Sassy through the ingredients that keep skin balanced in Hong Kong's climate — vitamin A ("one of the most potent ingredients in skincare", introduced gradually), stabilised vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs, multi-weight hyaluronic acid, peptides and exosomes — and why actives should be layered in slowly rather than all at once.
Central WellnessA profile of Justine — Sydney-trained, in Hong Kong for over 15 years — and the clinic's approach of treating internal and external skin health together, with programs built around each client's concerns using medical-grade skincare and award-winning devices.
the BEAUTY talk podcastJustine joins the BEAUTY talk for a 35-minute conversation on skincare for men — the treatments that make the biggest difference, what men actually look for in products, and why a simple, consistent routine beats a complicated one.
South China Morning Post · Skin Inc.Skin Headquarters makes the South China Morning Post's list of Hong Kong's best festive-season treatments, with Justine recommending a combination facial: a non-invasive transdermal infusion of hydrating and anti-ageing serums, followed by LED light therapy to stimulate skin cells and target firmness and ageing.
Studies and expert pieces Skin HQ points clients to, newest first. Each one links to the treatment it relates to.

A clear primer on collagen induction: controlled micro-injuries prompt fibroblasts to build new collagen and elastin, improving fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation and acne scars. Expect mild sunburn-like redness for a day or two, daily SPF afterwards, and sessions spaced four to six weeks apart.
Dermatologists explain what LED actually does: red light (around 633nm) penetrates deeper to support collagen and calm redness; blue light targets acne bacteria and oil. Professional devices are far more powerful than at-home masks, LED works best as an add-on to other treatments, and consistency matters.
SCMP's Heidi Yeung on surviving a Hong Kong summer: less is more — skip foundation when your skin is clear, conceal only where needed and set lightly, because make-up is harder to lose when you wear less of it.
Around 900 adults under 55 were followed for four and a half years. Those who applied SPF on most days showed no detectable skin ageing over the period — and 24% less ageing than people who used sunscreen only sometimes or not at all.
